If you have a project direction and need to define what should be built before design or development begins, a UX Blueprint can help turn your goals and requirements into a shared plan. If you are still working through a specific question or deciding what direction to take, a Clarity Session may be a better starting point.
What exactly will I receive?
You’ll receive a structured UX Blueprint documenting the decisions and guidance relevant to your project. This may include product goals, user journeys, information architecture, page or feature structure, content hierarchy, key actions, requirements, and strategic recommendations. It gives your team a shared foundation for design and development.
Do I need an audit first?
Not necessarily. If you already understand your product and what needs to change, we can start with the Blueprint. If you know the product needs improvement but are unsure what is causing the problems or what to prioritize, I usually recommend starting with a UX & Product Audit.
How is this different from a Clarity Session?
A Clarity Session is a focused conversation to think through a specific problem, question, or decision. A UX Blueprint is a more involved planning project that turns an established direction into a structured product plan your team can use for implementation.
Can my existing designer or developer use the Blueprint?
Yes. The Blueprint is designed to give designers, developers, and stakeholders a shared understanding of what should be built and why before implementation begins.
Will the Blueprint include visual designs or wireframes?
No. The Blueprint focuses on strategy and structure rather than visual execution. It defines the product’s goals, experience, organization, and requirements, while leaving visual design decisions to the design stage.
How long does the process take?
Most UX Blueprints are completed within one to two weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the project.
Can you help implement the Blueprint afterward?
Yes. Once the Blueprint is complete, we can continue into wireframing, visual design, or development, or I can work alongside your existing team to help bring it to life. You can also take the Blueprint to another designer or development team.
What if some decisions are still uncertain?
The Blueprint makes open questions and areas needing further exploration visible. Where a decision depends on research or testing, the document can identify what needs to be investigated rather than treating an assumption as a final answer.
